The Chipping Norton Hotel is a contemporary hospitality venue designed to serve a diverse community audience, blending dining, entertainment and family-focused spaces within a highly active commercial environment. The project reflects a growing trend in hospitality design where functionality, safety and experience are equally prioritised.
The design focused on open, connected spaces with strong visibility throughout the venue, supporting interaction and ease of movement. Extensive glazing was central to achieving this outcome, helping maintain visual connection throughout the building while supporting comfort and functionality in a busy setting.
One of the most distinctive elements is the multi-level glazed enclosure for the children’s play area, ensuring clear visibility throughout. PCW Commercial Windows fabricated and installed a range of Capral Aluminium systems throughout the project, helping bring the venue’s architectural vision to life while meeting the demands of a high-traffic hospitality environment.
The Capral AGS 419 Flushline Series and Capral AGS 619 Flushline Acoustic Framing achieved a clean architectural finish while helping to reduce sound transfer between internal spaces. For large openings and high-traffic areas, the Capral Artisan 996 Bi-Fold Door enabled flexible indoor-outdoor flow across the sports bar and dining spaces, while the Capral AGS 225 Hinged Door and Capral AGS 950 Sliding Window provided durable, functional access solutions throughout the venue.
Delivery of the project required automated door systems to operate safely alongside continuous pedestrian movement, with a focus on reliable performance during installation and final setup. PCW Commercial Windows worked closely with Don Hodge Group and the design team to plan and sequence installation within a live construction program, ensuring smooth integration of all systems ahead of opening.
As noted by PCW Director Leigh Spinks, “The main challenge was coordinating the automated systems and managing constant foot traffic around the children’s play area. We had to work through the sequencing carefully so everything operated safely and reliably, particularly with multiple systems interacting. The coordination between teams meant we were able to deliver a really successful outcome ahead of opening.”
Durability and maintenance were also key considerations, with all window and door systems finished in Dulux Duratec Zeus Matt Black powder coating to support long-term performance in a high-use environment. Glazing selections were specified to help manage solar heat gain and maintain comfort across areas with extensive glass exposure.
Overall, PCW Commercial Windows’ fabrication and installation capability enables Capral window and door systems to be successfully integrated into complex hospitality environments, balancing movement, safety and user experience with durability and performance.
