UOW student Alec Landstra Awarded 2022 Richard Michael Engineering Scholarship provided by Capral

Capral is proud to announce that the inaugural Richard Michael Scholarship in Engineering provided by Capral has been awarded to Alec Landstra, a third year Engineering student at University of Wollongong (UOW).

The Scholarship was established in 2021 honouring Richard’s legacy within Capral and as a significant contributor the wider aluminium industry for more than 25 years.
The scholarship is awarded to a deserving engineering undergraduate who is entering their last two years of study. Capral approached UOW as a scholarship partner as their engineering teaching and values closely align.

As well as providing financial support of $10,000 a year for two years, the scholarship includes an opportunity for work integrated learning at Capral locations.
Richard Axe, National Extrusion Business Manager for Capral said “Richard was passionate about the aluminium industry in Australasia and internationally.”
“His contribution was significant. He was especially keen to engender long term engagement in manufacturing industry by attracting the next generation of aspiring young engineers to aluminium extrusion.”

“This scholarship was created to honour his legacy of inspiring the engineers of the future.”

“We are so pleased to award this year’s scholarship to Alec who has demonstrated very strong academic performance in his mechatronic studies.”
