Celebrating 20 Years of Capral Bremer Park

In 2025, Capral Aluminium proudly celebrates the 20th anniversary of its Bremer Park facility in Bundamba, Queensland—a landmark site that has played a pivotal role in shaping Australia’s aluminium extrusion industry. Since its opening in 2005, Bremer Park has become the largest aluminium extrusion plant in the Southern Hemisphere, symbolising Capral’s commitment to innovation, sustainability, and local manufacturing excellence.

The Bremer Park facility was part of a $120 million development completed between 2003 and 2004, designed to rejuvenate Southeast Queensland’s industrial landscape. Strategically located at Bundamba, the plant was envisioned as a cornerstone for Capral’s expansion and modernisation efforts. Its establishment marked a significant milestone in Capral’s journey, which began in 1936 as British Aluminium Australia.

“Bremer Park has been instrumental in helping us deliver on our long-term strategic goals,” says Tony Dragicevich, CEO of Capral Aluminium. “It’s a world-class facility that reflects our investment in Australian manufacturing, and more importantly, in the communities where we operate. We’re incredibly proud of what our team at Bremer Park has achieved over the past two decades.”

Bremer Park boasts state-of-the-art extrusion capabilities, including three-operating extrusion presses capable of handling various alloys and profiles. The facility is also home to a vertical paint line, aluminium processing equipment and a comprehensive distribution centre, catering to diverse industries such as construction, transportation, and manufacturing. This technological prowess has positioned Capral as a leader in delivering high-quality, customised aluminium solutions.

In recent years, Bremer Park has become a hub for sustainable aluminium extrusion. Capral has successfully trialled recycled-content billets, incorporating post-production aluminium scrap taken from Bremer Park into new extruded products with a minimum of 20% recycled content. Collaborations with industry partners have further enhanced these efforts, demonstrating the viability of closed-loop recycling processes that minimise waste and reduce carbon emissions.

“This site is more than a factory—it’s a community of people who take great pride in what they do,” says Damir Merdovic, Extrusion Business Manager at Capral Bremer Park. “Many of our team members have been with us since day one. Their commitment to safety, quality, and sustainability has been the foundation of our success.”

Beyond its industrial achievements, Bremer Park has significantly contributed to the local economy and community. The facility has provided employment opportunities, supported local suppliers, and revitalised the region’s manufacturing sector. By maintaining a strong presence in Queensland, Capral underscores its dedication to supporting Australian industry and fostering community development.

As Capral celebrates two decades of success at Bremer Park, the company remains focused on innovation and sustainability. Plans include expanding the use of recycled materials, enhancing production efficiencies, and exploring new technologies to meet evolving market demands. Bremer Park is a testament to Capral’s enduring commitment to excellence and its vision for a sustainable future in aluminium manufacturing.
